Worst Trading Week for Futures?

“Worst trading week for futures since last April” is what was being stated on CNBC today.  I was listening to this with great amusement as I was day trading my typical Trend Jumper Tradeplans.  If this was the worst trading week for futures, then I hope that every week is as bad as this one.

As day traders, we don’t care if the market goes up or down.  If the market is moving, which they are, then Trend Jumper is going to put us in front of the best moves.  That’s exactly what happened all week and in fact, has been happening ever since it was released, nearly 2 years ago.

Here’s an example of the worst trading week for futures results that us Trend Jumper traders were able to enjoy:

  • Heating Oil Futures; one and done today for + 84 ticks; $352 (Heating Oil has had a perfect one and done session over the past 4 sessions and finished the week with a strong + 383 ticks at $4.20 per tick!)
  • Soybean Futures was one and done today for + 5.50 points (S ended down this week a modest – 3.25 points but has rocketed upwards since I was gone on vacation.  Last week it posted a strong +21.75 points and the week before that, + 12.50.  If the worst trading week for futures only ends up losing a tiny – 3.25 points, then imagine all the other sessions that are not the worst trading week for futures!
  • DAX Futures (FDAX) also was a bit subdued this week.  Today it ended down – 7.5 points and actually had a rare losing week, of exactly that; – 7.5 points.  Worst trading week for futures had nothing to do with markets going up or down.  The volatility was summertime low this week.  Am I concerned?  This tradeplan quits positive 88% of its sessions and 95% of its weeks!
  • Crude Oil Futures (CL) ; one and done for + .39, $390.  Week ends with + 1.58 and record equity highs
  • Dow eMini Futures (YM) was one and done today for + 48 points, +$240.  Finished the week with + 98 points and new record profit levels
  • Russell eMini Futures (TF) was one and done today for + 2.8 points, + $280.  Finished the week with + 10.2 points and new record profit levels
Check out Today’s Dow eMini trade (YM) which has us scratching our heads, wondering about the so-called trading experts on CNBC’s claim of this being the worst trading week for futures since last April.

Other markets were positive too, but those are some of my favorites and the markets I consistently track.

And while futures were struggling, posting record profits for us in multiple markets, check out the trade we called in our live traderoom on the EURJPY for triple digit gains.  This example shows exactly how the Trend Jumper puts us in front of the best moves, even in the face of low volatility.  Breakouts DO happen even in these dull market conditions.

  1. Not for us. That was the headline news of the day. For us, it was the total opposite.
